The Patrol Bureau is comprised of 3 Sergeants and 8 Officers providing 24 hour coverage for the City of Sidney.
Patrol Officers are responsible for responding to all calls for service received at the police department, answering an average of 8,100 calls per year.
In addition to conducting the initial investigation of nearly all crimes reported to the Sidney Police Department they are also responsible for:
Assisting other units and divisions within the department
Conducting general patrol in an effort to deter crime
Enforcing traffic laws
Identifying and dealing with hazardous and dangerous conditions within the city
Public interactions and education
Each officer is encouraged to conduct full investigations on the calls they respond to, as permitted by call load, prior to requesting the case be assigned to an investigator.
