Current Development Projects

Several million in major projects were completed since 2014 or are currently underway:

  • $25 million - Bell Lumber and Pole Manufacturing Company opened May 2014 at Adams Industries Industrial Park 10 miles northwest of Sidney
  • $600,000 - Sonic Drive-In opened in May 2014
  • $2 million - Golf course irrigation project completed in June 2014
  • $290,000 - Western Nebraska Community College added 8 apartment units for student housing located on their campus completed August 2014
  • $9 million - Cabela's downtown redevelopment project at former Corporate headquarters site and associated public improvement infrastructure to 13th Ave, 14th Ave and Illinois Street, storm water and other utility upgrades opened in September 2014
  • $9 million - Lodgepole Creek Apartment Complex - 72 units opened in October 2014
  • $15 million - Adams Industries rail expansion project / logistic industrial park / rehabilitated truck service facility completed in 2015.
  • $900,000 - Sidney Deadwood Trail expansion for hiking, biking, and walking - expands from WNCC to I-80 area completed in 2015
  • $485,000 - Additional Trails projects throughout I-80 corridor and 11th Avenue completed in 2015
  • $750,000 - New Airport Terminal built by the Sidney Airport Authority between the Aviation College (previous terminal) and the fixed base operator as a result of a new and expanded state of the art runway opened in 2015
  • $1 million - New Neighborhood Initiative 12-Unit Grassland Apts - completed November 2015
  • $53 million - Sidney Regional Medical Center construction began in May 2014 and was completed in December 2015. For additional details, please visit the Sidney Regional Medical Center website
  •  $5 million - Aquatic Center opened in May 2016 
  • $400,000 - Black Hills (Source Gas) new office complex / warehouse was built along Greenwood Road south of U.S. 30 near the new East Sidney Development area and opened in 2016
  • $34 million - Cabela’s I-80 corporate headquarters expansion opened in 2016
  • $5.5 million - Love’s Truck Stop built south of I-80 and L17J with new infrastructure and opened in 2016
  • $4 million - Fairfield Marriott near Walmart and Runza opened in October 2016
  • $6.5 million - Love's Hospitality Comfort Inn south of I-80 and L17J opened in 2016
  •  $16 million - Street Projects have been completed or are underway to facilitate development for the new hospital, Patel Development, Cabela’s, Cabela’s Housing (Ranch Subdivision – 500 acres), Reganis Development, Weiser Development, Love’s Development

  • Hickory Street Square improvements are in the design stages. Money has been budgeted for improvements as have funds from NDED for Community Facilities
  • Storm Water management projects are in designing stage; up to $2 million of new projects to be financed by the South Platte NRD and City of Sidney throughout community utilizing joint funding sources.
